Low-loss RF

Low-loss Coaxial RF Cable

Low-loss RF cables typically utilize a lower density dielectric than their solid dielectric cousins. By introducing air into the dielectric, the resulting Dielectric Constant (K) is lower and the Velocity of Propagation (Vp) is higher. The typical low-loss dialectric materials are Low-density or Expanded PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene aka Teflon®), Foam PFA (perfluoroalkoxy), Foam FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene), or Foam PE (polyethylene). These may be a homogeneous dielectric or other constrcution such as tape-wrapped expanded PTFE. With the introduction of air into the dielectric, the resulting construction will be increasingly soft as the Vp increases. Very soft flexible cable constructions may need protective covering or armor to protect from crushing, depending upon your application.
